Yoshukai Karate employs a variety of weapons at the higher belt ranks.  Blue belts learn the nunchaku at 2nd degree blue. The basics of the bo and sai are taught to 1st degree green belts, but the kata are not begun until 2nd degree green belt.  Tonfa are learned when the student is a Nidan.  The katana is taught to Sandan ranked blackbelts.

     In addition to the basic Yoshukai weapons, Athens Yoshukai occasionally offers instruction in a variety of other weapons for the benefit of the students.  Learning these weapons is not a requirement for rank advancement.  Knife fighting, stick fighting, and katana fighting are all classes which will be offered.  They will be offered as seminars at times which are most convenient for the students.  Knife fighting classes are usually taught once a semester, and the advanced class will have a lesson in defending against knives once a semester.
